Rescue Roundup: Companies that Give Back to Animals

If I could, I would donate every last dollar I have to animal rescues and shelters. However, I’m a typical human and sometimes…I like to shop. For example, I’m a coffee addict and sometimes, I need an extra jolt in the morning. I’m also a fan of lotions and perfumes – my entire cabinet is filled with a variety of different scents. My switch to only cruelty-free products reduced my collection just a little (for the better, of course), but it led to another way to help out the animal rescue community.

There are a range of different companies that help support animal welfare, including donating a portion of sales to rescues, animal shelters and/or general animal wellness. Looking to do your part in helping animals while also getting some great product in return? Check out a few of these companies and organizations.

Animal Hearted

If you, or someone you know, is animal-obsessed, anything from Animal Hearted is a great purchase. This shop has anything an animal lover may need – from cute sayings on shirts like “Eat, Sleep, Pet Dogs, Repeat,” to a license plate cover that says “My Best Friend Has Four Paws.” What’s more, Animal Hearted donates 25% of every order to a non-profit shelter or rescue. They have worked with many national organizations including North Shore Animal League, the Humane Society of the U.S., Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue and more.

Lush

Lush is the ultimate animal-friendly organization. They have a strong presence in an effort to fight animal testing: “We’ve been against animal testing for over 30 years and will continue to inform, encourage and participate in the fight for animal rights.” Most prominently, Lush features a Charity Pot program. The Charity Pot is a hand and body lotion where 100% of the purchase price goes towards charitable organizations around the world. Notable animal welfare partners include Operation Blankets of Love, Doberman Pinscher Rescue, Project Coyote and Zoocheck Inc.

Grounds & Hounds

As mentioned, I’m an avid coffee drinker. So when I learned of a company that sells (delicious) coffee with a portion of the purchase going to animal rescues, I immediately placed an order. Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. supports no-kill rescue organizations. “20% of all Grounds & Hounds proceeds will be donated to our rescue partners working to make the second-chance mission a reality.” I recommend starting out with the “Morning Walk Breakfast Blend,” and of course getting the “Travel Tumbler” for when you’re on-the-go.

Chateau La Paws

This one I haven’t personally tried out yet, but as much as I am a coffee-lover, I’m a wino as well. “At Chateau La Paws™ we are crazy about two things: our dogs who inspire us every day, and our delicious wines which do the same!” I can definitely relate to this! Chateau La Paws supports the North Shore Animal League (NSAL). Not only does Chateau La Paws donate to NSAL (and collect donations on their website), they feature adoptable animals at NSAL on every one of their labels.

If you’re not in the market for coffee, wine, apparel or body products, check out  AmazonSmile. By signing up for the AmazonSmile, a portion of your eligible purchases are donated to an organization of your choice. Think about everything you can buy on Amazon – electronics, clothing, groceries, even furniture! Everything you actually may need. Choose one of many 501(c)(3) shelters or rescues, purchase using AmazonSmile and you’ll help do your part in promoting animal welfare and adoption. While it is only .5% of your eligible purchase that is donated to the charity, honestly, any amount matters and helps to make a difference.

Now, these are just a few examples of companies that help support animal welfare and adoption. Check out some of your local stores, or even do just a quick online search and you will find many more that help support a cause you are passionate about.
